Plant Fusion is a brand of protein powder that contains no dairy, soy, animal or gluten. It is, as the name suggests, a plant protein (as opposed to whey or casein). It is made totally from plant sources and infused with BCAAs and Glutamine.
I began my search for a non whey based protein after deciding to make every effort to eat whole unprocessed foods, which included not partaking in protein bars and shakes. I am hypothyroid after having a tumor (and half my gland) removed a few years back. This leaves me with a slower than average metabolism, and therefore it’s much harder for my body to break down foods.
Plant Fusion was the first one I tried after reading other reviews online. And I love it! Well, I really like it. When it comes to any protein powder, I think love is a strong word. But this one is really good. It comes in vanilla bean and chocolate flavors and has a totally different texture than the whey I’ve used in the past. One scoop has approximately 120 calories, two grams of fat, four grams of carbohydrates and 21 grams of protein.
It mixes great with almond milk or water. My favorite recipe is as follows:
1.5 scoops protein
1/3 cup almond milk
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp. peanut butter
Blend until smooth!
